About the Choir

Come and sing popular songs with simple harmonies. There are no auditions and everyone is welcome regardless of ability.  It’s an excellent way to meet new people in a relaxed, friendly environment.

We rehearse on Mondays every week in term time at Lyppard Hub, Warndon Villages, Worcester WR4 0DZ on Mondays from 7:30pm until 9:00pm.

What sort of songs do you sing?
All sorts of things taken from suggestions from the choir. We choose brand new songs for each show so we don’t get bored of singing the same things all the time! This year we have sung Pitch Perfect, Dolly Parton, Bee Gees, Bruno Mars and Amy Winehouse. If you prefer Show Tunes then we do those too! We’ve sung songs from Wicked, West Side Story, Aladdin, Matilda, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma and Les Miserables. Check out our blog for more clues of what’s in store this term.

Do I need to read music?
Not at all. If there are any harmonies then we learn them by ear.

Can I start partway through the term?
Of course! You can join anytime you like.

Will there be anyone “like me”?
We have 50 singers in our choir aged from early 20s to young at heart retirees!! Then in between there’re loads of people just like Helen (mum of two boys!) We also have a gang of men who sit at the back and make mischief!! Under 16s are welcome but they must always be accompanied by an adult.

How much does it cost?
10 monthly payments of £22.75 by standing order. You can also pay weekly if you prefer. All choir members get unlimited tickets to our concerts absolutely free.

How to Join
Just email Helen Russell on helen@expressyourselfchoir.com or telephone 01905 747827. We’re a community choir so there are no auditions.

Can I join even if I dont want to take part in concerts?

Hi Judith, that’s absolutely fine. You can come along to rehearsals without performing in the concert. 🙂
